Ilwaco Fire Station

Ilwaco, WA

Nestled in the heart of this small coastal town, MWA designed the new 10,000 square foot Ilwaco Fire Station to fit into the fabric of the current community while providing for future expansion.

The building houses a volunteer fire department, chief’s office, small museum, 5 drive-through apparatus bays, shower room, a kitchen, public bathrooms, and community meeting room. The interior is organized to provide clean circulation pathways that connect the community, administration, and response functions. The simple coastal building design’s exterior is clad with a mix of cedar lap siding and board and battens, highlighted by wood post and beam elements that tie the building together.
